An article posted at the University of Southern California’s Center for Health Journalism, provides explosive details as to how the healthcare system has been rigged to extract the wealth of our nation. The author, Steven Weissman, is a reform advocate and the former president of a Florida hospital.

According to the article, healthcare is just the latest in a regularly recurring pattern of corporate scandals from big tobacco, Enron, WorldCom, and Bernie Madoff to the recent near collapse of the banking system. What healthcare has in common with past scandals is the pursuit of profit entirely removed from the norms of human decency.
Following the all too familiar pattern, in retrospect, everyone will be incredulous that the scam was allowed to continue for so long; but Weissman states that in comparison to the misery and suffering inflicted by the healthcare industry, other scandals were petty theft.
