Already one of the event’s biggest draws, commercials during the big game have risen to be nearly as “must watch” as the game itself. For Tampa marketing professionals, the real competition this year isn’t what’s taking place on the field… it’s what’s taking place on the airwaves.
At their 2nd Annual Big Game Ad Watching Party, AMA Tampa Bay brought the marketing community together to critique some of the year’s most popular ads ahead of time to give viewers a heads-up on what to watch for in between the action.
As it turns out, Heinz’s “Wiener Stampede” led the pack and was ultimately dubbed this year’s champ. Along with 15 other advertisements, the Heinz commercial competed in a bracket style, head-to-head challenge against the heavyweights of this year’s advertisements.
Beating out Hyundai’s popular “Ryanville” commercial featuring actor Ryan Reynolds, “Wiener Stampede” features dozens of dachshunds dressed as hotdogs running towards a collection of ketchup and mustard dressed actors… all while Air Supply’s “Without You” plays in the background.
“Heinz taps into the universal love of dogs by connecting it to the relevance of their brand,” said Bernie Borges, AMA Tampa Bay’s VP of Communications.

Hosted by Scott Sheinberg, executive vice president of 22squared, the 2nd Annual Big Game Ad Watching Party brought Tampa’s marketing professionals to The Dugout Club at Steinbrenner Field for an engaging and educational luncheon.
During the event, Sheinberg, who has worked on advertising campaigns for the Big Game with Publix, shared stories from his experiences and provided insightful tips on how brands of all sizes can benefit from the game’s reach.
