On June 14, 2017, Joseph Markey, Market President, Senior Vice President and Middle Market Sales Leader for KeyBank, presented a $10,000 grant to Joseph A. Peri, President of Junior Achievement of New York (JA New York). The grant is in support of providing financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness programs to JA New York students in the Lower Hudson Valley region.

This spring, 25 volunteers from KeyBank delivered the JA Our Community program to 270 second grade students at Oakside Elementary School in Peekskill, New York. JA Our Community introduces students to the way in which communities grow and thrive – teaching them about careers, businesses, education and how citizens can both benefit from and contribute to a community’s success.

The programming was delivered in a high-impact daylong format called JA in a Day, which is among JA New York’s most popular programming channels. The day of service was delivered by volunteer role models who team-teach in classrooms to lead hands-on, experiential activities that empower students to own their economic success.

“With the help of KeyBank, JA New York is equipping young people with the tools to solve problems creatively, make sound economic decisions, and make the most of opportunities. Together, we are inspiring our Lower Hudson Valley region’s young people to imagine and shape their own futures by giving them the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century economy,” said Joseph Peri.
