Dr. Calcaterra is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and he is determined to enhance his patients’ quality of life, providing highly specialized and individualized care in order to ensure the most optimal results. With a passion for his work, he has a special expertise in aortic surgery and endovascular aortic repair, cardiac valve surgery, and off-pump coronary bypass surgery. He has special interest in bloodless heart surgery and minimally invasive cardiac operations.
Dr. Calcaterra shares his wealth of knowledge as an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, and he has earned the coveted titles of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Calcaterra is author of numerous publications in prominent medical journals and has presented his research work at important internationally recognized meetings such as the Centennial National Meeting of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the Annual Meeting of the Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) and the Annual Meeting of the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
