Miles For Hope will hold its Moving Towards a Cure® Brain Tumor 5K Awareness Walk/Run on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 9 a.m. at Comstock Riverside Park, Riverbend Shelter in Grand Rapids, MI. Proceeds will fund brain tumor research and provide travel assistance to brain cancer patients.
“We are excited about coming to Grand Rapids,” said Bob Gibbs, Founder of Miles For Hope and a seven-year brain cancer survivor. “Our Moving Towards a Cure® events not only help us spread awareness in new places, but help us raise funds for treatments that helped save my life.” Gibbs has been featured on NBC Extra!, Focus Atlanta, and in the peer-reviewed magazine Contemporary Oncology for his perseverance in finding a safe and effective cure for brain tumors.
The event is open to all ages. Same-day registration opens at 8 a.m., event begins at 9 a.m.. Registration for adults is $20. Fee increases $5 after July 9th. Registration is free for children under 6 years. Participants can walk/run individually or form a team. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged. Post-event celebration to follow the race and includes an award presentation to remember those battling brain cancer as well as those who lost their battle.
