Dr. James E. Tibone has been in practice for more than three decades and is currently serving as Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery and Moss Foundation Professor in Sports Medicine in the name of Robert Kerlan at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Additionally, he serves as co-director of the USC Center for Athletic Medicine.
Dr. Tibone’s career in medicine began in 1973 when he graduated from the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Upon receiving his Medical Degree, he completed an internship and residency at Harbor General Hospital, before undertaking his fellowship training at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Tibone is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and remains a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Tibone has extensive expertise working with professional athletes, serving as head team physician for the USC intercollegiate teams, and having served as team physician for numerous other sports organizations such as the LA Kings and Los Angeles Rams. For his wealth of experience and knowledge, Dr. Tibone is the recipient of numerous awards, and has been published extensively. He is a past president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, and has served on several national professional committees. Attributing his success to his hard work and perseverance, Dr. Tibone’s dedication to his specialty is unparalleled. When he is not working, he enjoys staying active by running and biking, as well as playing volleyball and golf.
