Baron is a highly trained and qualified physician with an extensive expertise in all facets of his work, especially advanced endoscopic procedures. He is currently serving as the Director of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy within the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Dr. Baron’s career in medicine began in 1986, when he graduated from the University of Florida. Upon receiving his Medical Degree, he completed an internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Baron then completed further fellowship training in ERCP at Duke University, before entering practice.
Board certified in Gastroenterology, Dr. Baron performs extensive clinical research in the endoscopic management of diseases throughout the gastrointestinal tract, and has performed endoscopy procedures and lectures around the world. He has authored more than 450 papers, is the editor of a comprehensive textbook in its second edition, and has recently completed advanced training in endoscopic ultrasound. To stay current with the latest advances in his field, Dr. Baron maintains a professional membership with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
