With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Joan E. Appleton, MSN, RN., M.A.T.S., joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. Joan is a Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience in her field. She has expertise in the field of adult medical/surgical nursing with a specialty as Nurse Educator and Faith Community Nurse. Joan is currently on staff at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee.
Joan graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1992 from the University of Memphis. She maintained a part-time status in nursing, enjoying being a mother until work on a Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 2013 from the University of Memphis. To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in her field, Joan maintains a professional membership with the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the National League for Nursing, and the Health Ministries Association.
Joan and her husband, a doctor in Internal Medicine, are creating a medical mission to help people in Ethiopia, starting in 2017. Joan has a unique ministry of combining nursing and evangelism which channels through her field of Faith Community Nursing. When she is not working, Joan dedicates her free time to studying, farm living, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
