Dr. Gowman was educated at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, completed a residency in cardiology and internal medicine at Botsford Hospital and then went on to complete level three training in echocardiography at the University of Michigan. He is double board certified in Cardiology and in Clinical Lipidology, and maintains a professional membership with the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Vascular Medicine.
Dr. Gowman is recognized as an expert in cardiology across Michigan for his knowledge and skill regarding the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions, ranging from coronary artery disease to valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathies. He is a specialist in multiple areas of cardiac imaging including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular imaging, and coronary CTA. Dr. Gowman attributes his success to his wife of 33 years, Kim. When he is not assisting his patients, Dr. Gowman enjoys spending quality time with his family.
