Global Village Champions Foundation Christmas in JanuaryThe cold weather currently bringing the South to a freezing halt has also affected Global Village Champions Foundation and Jeunesse Kids’ Christmas in January event. Originally scheduled for this afternoon (Thursday, January 30th), the event, which was to be hosted in conjunction with the Boxing Hall of Fame Las Vegas, had to be cancelled due to champion boxer and Global Village Champion Ambassador Evander Holyfield and GVCF co-founder Yank Barry being unable to get flights to Las Vegas.

“Our flights were supposed to go through Atlanta, so we can’t make it to Las Vegas,” Barry said. “Thankfully, the meals we have donated are already there for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission to distribute.”

GVCF has donated 25,000 meals to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Following Christmas and New Year’s, food pantries run short on food due to high demand from the holidays. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission in particular serves over 1,000 meals daily.
