When Sony Music Latin artist Romeo Santos performs at the new Yankee Stadium over the summer, he will make history as the first Latin artist to ever headline a concert at the famed stadium and the first Latin artist to perform there in 40 years.

This comes on the heels of having the top three songs on the “Billboard Hot Latin Songs” chart prior to Sony Music Latin and Santos releasing the most anticipated Latin album of the year, “Formula Vol. 2,” last week at Yankee Stadium.
Already the number one presale album on iTunes, Romeo Santos’ “Formula Vol. 2″ features special guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Drake, Marc Anthony, Carlos Santana, Tego Calderon and comedian Kevin Hart.
The album’s chart-topping hit, “Odio” featuring Drake, also set the record for having the highest selling week of any Spanish-language single earlier in 2014 and Santos was recently certified by “Billboard” as the artist with the most number one Latin hits this decade.
“We’re thrilled with Romeo’s success and what he brings to the Sony Music Latin family,” said Seroussi. “We’re confident that he can carry this momentum for a long time to come.”
Dubbed the “King of Bachata,” Santos has become a global ambassador for the bilingual culture and the unofficial sound of New York City, all while selling out the famed Madison Square Garden eight consecutive times.
Santos will perform at Yankee Stadium on July 12.
