After moving to the United States, he completed a residency and fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Further fellowships were completed at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Hong is dual board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, in Cardiovascular Disease and in Cardiac Electrophysiology, in which field he is an internationally renowned expert. He is also a noted expert in the use of radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, cryoablation as a treatment for atrial fibrillation, resynchronization therapy, and the use of implantable cardiac defibrillators and pacemakers. Dr. Hong served as the Program Director for the cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University and he is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS).
