Dr. Karfes’ acclaimed career in dentistry began in 1958, when he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. After an internship at the New York-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, he completed a residency at the St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. Pursuing advanced training, Dr. Karfes went on to undertake his fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Karfes is one of the most experienced and respected oral and maxillofacial surgeons in America, and he is particularly renowned for his expertise in the treatment of fractured jaws and maxillofacial trauma. He also serves as a teacher at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, and is a distinguished member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. When he is not assisting patients, Dr. Karfes enjoys gardening.
