Dr. Walter Besser is a vastly experienced orthopedic surgeon who has been in practice for nearly five decades. His long and successful career in medicine began in 1968 when he graduated from the faculty of medicine at the Universidad Complutense De Madrid, Faculty of Medicine in Spain.Upon earning his Medical Degree, Dr. Besser relocated to the United States and completed his first residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York. In 1972, he would complete a second residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, before undertaking his fellowship at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery in 1977.
Dr. Besser is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and he has become particularly renowned for his expertise as a spine surgeon. Expert surgical procedures undertaken by him include total joint replacement, synovial biopsy, arthroscopy, neuroplasty, rotator cuff surgery, laminectomy, and excision of the scapula, clavicle, rib or sternum.
With his wealth of experience to call upon Dr. Besser remains an orthopedic spine surgeon in very high demand, and yet he still finds time to help, mentor and advise less experienced physicians and surgeons.
