Dr. Melendez’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1977 when he graduated with his Medical Degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. He then relocated to the United States to complete an internship at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, followed by a residency at the Charleston Area Medical Center and fellowship in Anesthesiology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Melendez is now renowned as one of the most expert and experienced pediatricians in Puerto Rico, and he is a distinguished member of the American Medical Association, the Puerto Rico Medical Association, and the Puerto Rico Pediatric Association. Alongside his practice, Dr. Melendez serves as a Clinical Professor at the Ponce School of Medicine, where he won a Best Teacher Award. He attributes his success to his dedication, compassionate nature, and his love of his work. In his free time, Dr. Melendez enjoys singing, playing the guitar and violin, and martial arts.
