Hopgood is a highly-trained and qualified dentist with an extensive expertise in all facets of his work. Dr. Hopgood has been in practice for more than three decades and is currently serving patients within Advanced Dental Concepts in Andover, Massachusetts. Dr. Hopgood seeks to bring state-of-the-art care to his patients such as the Perio-Laser dental laser and periodontal treatment protocol. He was the first practitioner in New England to offer these advanced services, since 2002.
Dr. Richard D. Hopgood was educated at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1978. While at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Hopgood earned membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor fraternity, and was the recipient of the Pierre Fauchard Award for academic and clinical excellence. He then went on to complete his one year general practice hospital residency at Tufts New England Medical Center, followed by his three year association with a general practice in Arlington, before he established his current practice in Andover in 1982.
To keep up to date in his field, Dr. Hopgood maintains professional memberships with the American Dental Association with whom he received a Special Commendation in 1986, the American Equilibration Society, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Merrimack Valley Dental Society, the Greater Lawrence Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry, who awarded him Mastership status at the annual meeting in San Diego in 2007. Dr. Hopgood attributes his successful career to having high ethical standards, and a strong work ethic. When he is not assisting his patients, Dr. Hopgood enjoys playing tennis, watersports, and antique boats.
