Schoen is an Independent Nurse Consultant and President of Schoen Consulting LLC in Wallingford, Connecticut. With over three decades of experience and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially geriatrics.
Melinda J. Schoen’s career in nursing began in 1999 when she graduated with her Nursing Degree from St. Vincent’s College. An advocate for continuing education, Melinda obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Charter Oak State College in 2005, before gaining her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2007. Following her Master’s Degree, Melinda completed post graduate certification in long term care administration from Quinnipiac University, becoming a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in her field, Melina maintains a professional membership with the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives.
In her long and successful nursing career, Melinda has held a succession of increasingly senior nursing and administrative positions, including serving as Vice President of Nursing for the Masonicare Health Center. Alongside her role as a nurse consultant, she also currently serves as an Executive Director of the non-profit organization Armsmear. For her excellence, Melinda was recognized with a Nightingale Award for Nursing in 2002, and the University of Phoenix Alumni Community Service Award in 2012. Melinda attributes her great success in her field to her ability to empathize with others, always putting herself in other people’s shoes. When she is not working, Melinda dedicates her free time to gardening and her family.
