He is a highly trained and qualified surgical oncologist with a vast expertise in all facets of his work. Dr. Wanebo has been in practice for more than 42 years and is currently serving patients in Private Practice and at Roger Williams Medical Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
Dr. Wanebo graduated with his Medical Degree in 1961 from the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Following his graduation, Dr. Wanebo interned at Cornell University, served his surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco, before his Tumor Immunology residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Wanebo board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and keeps up to date with the latest advances in his field through his professional memberships with the American Head and Neck Society, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Wanebo is the creator of the University of Virginia Surgical Oncology Program, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He attributes his great success to the support from his wife and his love for medicine. When he is not assisting patients, Dr. Wanebo enjoys skiing, playing the piano, and cancer research.
