Statement: Florida GOP U.S. Senate candidate Ernie Rivera decries St. Petersburg as potential home to new Cuban Consulate

(PR NewsChannel) / August 1, 2016 / TAMPA, Fla.

The following is a statement from Ernie Rivera, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, whose wife is Cuban, on St. Petersburg being eyed by Cuba to become home to the first Cuban Consulate in the United Stated States:

“I am outraged that St. Petersburg, Tampa, Miami or any Florida city would be a contender to be home for a Cuban Consulate. This cannot happen and should be stopped.

“The fact that Cuban/American relations are progressing like this demonstrates how important it is to help the people of Cuba who need to be protected from the oppressive leftist regime that is using the Obama administration just like they use the leftist regime in Venezuela to stay in power. The Cuban regime forces Cuban doctors to work for nothing in Venezuela. Will the Obama administration next use Cuban doctors to prop up Obama’s failed healthcare scheme?”
