After graduating from Syria’s Aleppo Medical School in 1998, Dr. Akbik would relocate to the United States and begin an Anesthesiology internship at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Following this, he would go on to complete an Anesthesiology residency at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, before undertaking his Pain Management fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Dr. Akbik specializes in treating an array of pain conditions in patients of all ages. Some of the conditions that Dr. Akbik provides treatment for include chronic and acute neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, and cancer pain, and he carries out discography, nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, and spinal cord stimulation. Due to his extensive knowledge and experience in both anesthesiology and pain management, Dr. Akbik has often been called upon to speak at various conferences around the world. In addition to practicing medicine at his Ohio office, Dr. Akbik also joined a medical and humanitarian non-profit organization in Jordan to aid Syrian refugees.
