Bitner is a registered nurse currently working at Good Samaritan Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota. With over 59 years of experience, she is a specialist patient care supervisor and home healthcare nurse.

Irma M. Bitner obtained her nursing degree in 1957 from the Bismarck State College in North Dakota, becoming a Registered Nurse. During her long and illustrious career in nursing, Irma has completed training courses in various fields and specialties.

Alongside her work at Good Samaritan Hospital, Irma is also affiliated with Mercy Hospital Devils Lake. She has worked in many areas of nursing, and is now renowned as a specialist in respiratory care. Irma attributes her success to her upbringing and to the encouragement she got from her family. When not working, she enjoys reading, sewing and crafting, especially quilting.
