The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Sandra Burwell, RN, BSN, MSN, to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare. Sandra Burwell is a Registered Nurse with 44 years of experience in her field and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially critical care, Emergency Department, Cardiac Step-down and orthopedic nursing. Sandra is currently retired and living in New York. She previously served patients as one of the first African American Nurse Administrator`s at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, New York.
Sandra obtained her initial Nursing Degree from Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York. An advocate for continuing education, she went on to attend St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York where she graduated with her Bachelor Degree in Public Administration and later obtained her Master of Science Degree in Health Administration.
Sandra currently is a Community Leader for the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in her field, she maintains a professional membership with the American Emergency Nurses Association and the American Heart Association.She is also a member of Chi Eta Phi, Incorporated, a nursing sorority through which she does blood pressure screenings and shares mentoring information with students at some middle schools/high schools. She attributes her success to her dedication to the nursing profession, her patients, and to creating change. In her free time, Sandra enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
