Professor Omura ’s career in medicine began in 1958 when he graduated with his Medical Degree from the Yokohama City University Medical School in Japan. He was trained first at Tokyo University Hospital, and then at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he completed his Cardiovascular fellowship and residency training in Oncological Surgery, before receiving his Sc.D. Degree in Pharmaco-Electrophysiology of Single Cardiac Cells in Vivo and in Vitro. Professor Omura has earned the title of Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in England, as well as Fellow of the American College of Acupuncture, and the American Association of Integrative Medicine, and President of the International College of Acupuncture and Electrotherapeutics.
Recently, Professor Omura developed new non-invasive methods of detecting various cancers from rapidly changing part of QRS complex of ECGs. He also developed new non-invasive methods of detecting various infections and biochemical changes in different parts of the heart. Using non-invasive method from recorded ECGs, Professor Omura can detect Lyme disease infection of the heart. Contrary to the present concept which does not include Lyme Disease among the 13 potential factors involved in atrial fibrillation, Professor Omura found that, Borrelia burgdorferi, the pathogen of Lyme disease, is one of the major causes of Atrial Fibrillation.
Professor Omura teaches or gives consultations through the activity of his associated organizations and by request of other doctors and other medical organizations. Professor Omura has done extensive research on the effects of chemotherapy on the heart and brain of cancer patients since he noticed many of his cancer patients have developed memory problems, as well as heaviness and discomfort of the heart after chemotherapy.
His new method of evaluating ECGs often shows abnormality in the heart, even though these ECGs are considered to be within normal limits according to current concepts. Moreover, his recent research provided alternative, simple, safe, effective and economical anti-cancer treatment. Professor Omura has published over 270 original research reports & 9 books, and gave lectures and keynote presentations on non-invasive early diagnosis and safe, economical effective treatment in cardiology and oncology at many international conferences around the globe.
