He is a highly-trained and qualified orthopedic surgeon with vast expertise in all facets of his work. Dr. Kelly has been practicing for over 29 years and is currently serving as an Osteopathic and Hand Surgeon at Excelsior Orthopaedics in Amherst, New York. He is also affiliated with Kenmore Mercy Hospital, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and Erie County Medical Center.
Dr. James Kelly obtained his Medical Degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania in 1987. Residencies then followed at Millcreek Community Hospital and at the State University of New York’s Buffalo School of Medicine, prior to undertaking a fellowship at SUNY at Buffalo.
Dr. Kelly is certified in both orthopedic surgery and hand surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is an expert in joint repair, microsurgery and hand deformity reconstruction, and remains a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand as well as the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Kelly also earned the coveted title of Diplomate of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, and says that his success is due to both his tenacity, indefatigability and the mentors who have helped him throughout his career. When not working, he enjoys visiting the theater and listening to classical music.
