Spagnolo has been in practice for more than five decades and is currently serving patients within the Washington, D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is also affiliated with George Washington University Medical Center.
Dr. Spagnolo graduated with his Medical Degree in 1965 from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After an internship at Washington Hospital, he completed residencies at Boston City Hospital and Boston Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Pursuing advanced medical training, Dr. Spagnolo undertook a prestigious Harvard fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Spagnolo is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, and has earned the coveted titles of Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Spagnolo is renowned as a leading expert in the treatment of conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and lung cancer. He remains a distinguished member of many professional organizations including the American Society of Internal Medicine and the American Thoracic Society. Alongside his practice, he also serves as Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and in 1991 he founded the International Lung Foundation. When he is not working, Dr. Spagnolo enjoys gardening and restoring and driving old cars.
