The-Best-Man-Holiday-SoundtrackThe International Black Film Festival of Nashville is proud to announce the screening of the highly anticipated feature film, “The Best Man Holiday” by renown Director Malcolm E. Lee,” as its Opening Night Film. The evening will kick off on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 7:30 pm with the Opening Night Mixer immediately following the screening. The Nashville screening location will be announced soon. Tickets will be available for purchase on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at www.ibffnfestivalevents.com.

“The Best Man Holiday” tells the story of college friends who reunite during the Christmas holidays after 15 years apart. They quickly discover just how easily long-forgotten rivalries and romances can reignite. The film returns with members of the original, star studded cast that include: Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Harold Perrineau, Terrance Howard, Regina Hall and Melissa DeSousa.

“We are beyond excited that Universal Pictures selected IBFFN as one of its screening locations,” said Festival Founder Hazel Joyner-Smith. “Even as we were selling the festival to Universal Pictures, we had to also demonstrate that Nashville is a burgeoning market that has an energetic and diverse audience to support a high profile, studio film of this caliber.”

In 1999, Lee’s first blockbuster “The Best Man” skyrocketed to the number one position at the box office, earning more than $9 million its first weekend on more than 1300 screens. With early critic nods, a cult following, and an amazing soundtrack, “The Best Man Holiday” is set to break records for its national release in theaters across the country on November 15, 2013.

The soulful soundtrack, complete with a star-studded lineup includes a host of R&B legends and heavy hitters. The 13-track album features R. Kelly, Charlie Wilson, Monica, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Emeli Sande, Fantasia, Mario, John Legend and Jordin Sparks giving new renditions of a selection of Christmas classics, plus an emotive take on Stevie Wonder’s “As” by Marsha Ambrosius and Anthony Hamilton.
