About four decades ago, a sixth grader in a neighborhood school often spoke about his past life and how he slipped and died while flying a kite from his three-story terrace. The vivid imagery he spoke of interested a reporter, who began to investigate the story and found the story credible. Before he could collect more evidence, the investigation ended in a bizarre twist. The story haunted the author and she decided to turn it into a novel that young readers would enjoy.
