The headlines over “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm’s private parts the last couple days have been insane:

The Huffington Post: Jon Hamm’s Private Parts Allegedly Cause A Frenzy On ‘Mad Men’ Set

New York Daily News: Jon Hamm’s private parts cause a stir on set of ‘Mad Men’ season six

Starpulse.com: Are Jon Hamm’s Private Parts A Problem For ‘Mad Men’s’ Wardrobe Department?

So much for subtle from The Daily Beast: ‘Mad Men’: Jon Hamm’s Penis is Too Big for Clothes, Needs Airbrushing

And then there are the headlines that are too descriptive or raunchy to repeat!

It seems everyone is talking about Jon Hamm.

On Twitter, @Mark Hoppus writes: “my wife is in the other room excitedly talking to her friend about jon hamm. is there a new mad men episode?” It was retweeted 224 times.

@JustBill writes: If Jon Hamm doesn’t receive a National Endowment for the Arts award, then I don’t know how Twitter works.

@DailyCaller writes: Jon Hamm likes to go commando and it became a real problem on the ‘Mad Men’ set

So from a public relations perspective, is this a PR win or loss?

If you’re Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper on the AMC drama “Mad Men,” and the media is discussing your private parts rather than your ability to act, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

“It may not be the number one reason why you’d want people to talk about you, but they’re talking about you and from that perspective, that’s a win,” says Glenn Selig, founder of the national PR firm The Publicity Agency and creater of the new public relations channel PRNC TV.

“It’s far worse if the media stops talking about you. But I’d imagine that Jon Hamm is feeling quite proud of himself because of why they’re talking about him and the fact they are talking about him–even if his reps are projecting something different.”

After being alerted that the paper is doing a story on Jon Hamm’s private parts, a rep for Hamm told the “New York Daily News”: “It is ridiculous and not really funny at all. I’d  appreciate you taking the high road and not resorting to something childish like  this that’s been blogged about 1,000 times.”

Really?

“We understand why Hamm’s flack is sick of reading this sort of easy click bait, but we also don’t really see how the star is getting shafted by the press.,” says Patrick Coffee on Mediabistro.com. “It’s all in good fun, right?”

Selig, creater or PRNC TV and founder of The Publicity Agency points out that this would be a far different story if the articles were about an actress and her body parts.

“The standards are different for men and women and I think the public reacts differently. I don’t even believe that the news media would be covering it in the same way.”

Excerps from The Huffington Post:

Jon Hamm’s not-so-private parts are reportedly causing quite the stir on the “Mad Men” set.

According to the New York Daily News’ Confidenti@l, an AMC Network insider says the allegedly well-endowed actor was kindly instructed by a staffer to please wear underwear while shooting his scenes.

“This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” the source tells Confidentia@l. “Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.”

The insider even adds that during Seasons 1 and 2 of the show, the marketing team had to Photoshop a lot of the promotional posters, billboards and ad campaigns considering Hamm’s “impressive anatomy” was making an impressive showing.

Excerpts from the New York Daily News:

“Mad Men” star Jon  Hamm’s private parts are causing a stir. Again.

An AMC insider tells Confidenti@l that during filming of the sixth season of  the hit show — when the ’60s-style clothing was a tight fit — Hamm was politely  instructed by a staffer at the network to please wear underwear while shooting  his scenes.

Excerpts from Starpulse.com:

Apparently Jon Hamm has a problem most men would like. His private parts are so prominent, the people behind “Mad Men” have asked him to put on underwear while filming.
