Megan Joyce, Owner of Joyce Wellness

Joyce Wellness recently celebrated their first year in business.  Owner Megan Joyce has been in the field of Oriental medicine for the last five years and decided it was time to open a practice of her own.

Her goal in opening Joyce Wellness is to provide comprehensive wellness programs that include acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutritional counseling.  These three modalities provide effective alleviation of acute symptoms, as well as profound long-term physiological and emotional benefits for a variety of ailments.

Although she is comfortable treating patients with a myriad of conditions including pain management, depression, anxiety, and asthma, Joyce focuses mainly on women’s health issues. She has used the tenets of Oriental medicine to successfully treat patients with infertility, PMS, and specializes in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Having been diagnosed with PCOS herself, she knows the disease from both the patient and medical perspective. Her unique approach to treating PCOS integrates Chinese medicine, neutraceuticals and western medical philosophy to create a comprehensive treatment plan specifically for each individual.

Joyce started down her path towards Oriental Medicine while doing extensive research in Biopsychology and Social Psychology at the University of California at Santa Barbara.  She noticed the intense connection between mind and body in nearly every experiment and that fascination led her to study at Emperors College Graduate school of Traditional Oriental Medicine.  She then traveled to China to receive advanced training in Gynecology and Internal Medicine at the Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine University.

Always an avid traveler, Joyce has practiced Oriental Medicine in many different countries including Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, and more.  One such trip inspired her to found the One World Health Project (www.owhp.org), non-profit dedicated to providing acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in underserved communities locally and abroad.  One World Health Project (www.owhp.org) just completed their second international outreach program in Kenya this past month.
