It took a troubling event to reunite four siblings after nearly 20 years of being separated from one another. Jean Powers shares the struggles and joys of her and her siblings coming together in “My Brother: A Story of How Time Teaches Four Siblings the True Meaning of Family” (ISBN 1468063987). Powers reveals each of the roles she and her sisters played in her brother’s life and how it shaped them into the adults they are today.

Her memoir takes readers on a journey through her and her siblings’ dysfunctional childhood, and follows the sisters as they fight to keep their brother and his children from becoming homeless. Her brother’s journey through life had an impact on each of them, and Powers’ memoir shows how he eventually brought them back together again as a family.

The silent impact of abuse from their parents, physical separation and their brother’s struggles all contributed to the blossoming proclamation of love shown throughout Powers’ book. She hopes that her book will inspire readers with family issues to solve them.

“My goal is to encourage families who are in this situation to take action before it is too late, and to have the conversations that lead to their individual or family divide,” Powers says. “This book is a powerful story of a family that persevered against overwhelming odds, and eventually brought an insanely dysfunctional family back together.”

“My Brother: A Story of How Time Teaches Four Siblings the True Meaning of Family” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
