It’s been six months since Tampa dermatologist Dr. Seth Forman first introduced a new, low-dose radiotherapy procedure to treat basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer. So far, the results have been stunning.
“We have had zero recurrence in patients with skin cancer after using the low-dose radiotherapy treatment,” Forman says. “Zero recurrence reinforces my belief that this is revolutionary technology that can change the way we treat skin cancer in the future.”
The procedure uses a machine called SRT-100. It provides pinpointed low-dose radiotherapy, without surgery, stitches or shots, completing treatment in about 90 seconds. Forman says patients don’t experience any pain, there is no need for recovery time and it is covered by Medicare.
These benefits led to the Tampa dermatologist demonstrating the procedure on airwaves across the nation, including an appearance on the CBS hit TV show, “The Doctors.” The show’s co-host and renowned surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon said of the treatment, “it’s a real game changer.”
Forman’s technology was also featured on Tampa’s WTSP 10 News with Allison Kropff and on Play 98.7 with That Guy Kramer. The Tampa dermatologist is one of only a handful of board-certified dermatologists in the U.S. offering the skin cancer treatment.
“My patients have been extremely satisfied with the results of the procedure,” says the Tampa dermatologist. “They’ve had little, minimal, or no scarring; they have had little, minimal, or no discomfort, and they’ve had no disruption in their daily lives. They’ve had no stitches, bleeding or post procedure complications.”
Forman will continue treating skin cancer patients in his Tampa dermatology office and hopes to treat more patients with the alternative option for skin cancer suffers.
