According to the U.S. National Library Medicine, fibromyalgia is a syndrome that causes long-term body pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons and soft tissues which often causes fatigue, sleep problems, headaches, depression and anxiety. The cause is unknown.
Obenchain started AAAFMS after his wife was diagnosed with fibromyalgia only after experts had insisted that it was simply fatigue. After hearing the diagnosis, like most, he felt helpless. But then he decided to take action by creating a website (http://www.aaafms.com) and giving a voice to those who live with fibromyalgia,–whether it’s the person with fibromyalgia or what he calls the “second hand” victim, the family member who provides care and assistance.
