“Knights in White” (ISBN 1463715250), a novella by Everette James, tells the story of tense interpersonal conflict between Dr. Everhard Cooper, chair of the radiology department at Draper University’s Markle Medical Center and Keith Ellington, Vice Chancellor of the university.

The story begins with an account of Cooper’s background, revealing him to be not only gifted in his field but a savvy player, moving from one elite institution to another and racking up prestigious honors before arriving at Markle. His time there is a good one until a questionable business proposal sees him butting heads with Ellington, who seeks to end Cooper’s career. What Ellington does not know, but soon comes to learn, is that he is woefully outmatched in resources and intellect as Cooper works to outmaneuver his machinations.

“Tragedies like this one play out every day behind the doors of elite medical institutions,” says James, himself a teaching physician. “Given the keen intellect and drive of the people involved, the game can be complex and destructive.”

Written in a straightforward, plot-driven narrative style, the novella is intended to engage and entertain while granting readers access to a hidden world full of aggressive competitiveness.

“Knights in White” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
