In addition to over 2,000 international paddlers competing in the 10th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship, nearly 100 racing officials representing 20 countries will descend upon Tampa Bay from across the world.
Participating race officials will be representing countries, including: Australia, Canada, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Iran, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Ukraine and the United States.
“We are excited to welcome these dragon boat paddlers and race officials to the Tampa Bay area and show them what a premier dragon boat racing destination we have,” said Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Institute Executive Director Christine Canevari.
IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship officials and paddlers will be arriving as early as July 25 and will stay an average of nine nights in Tampa Bay area hotels. The 10th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship will take place on the Seddon Channel in downtown Tampa, marking the first time the Tampa Bay area has hosted the event.
