Entertainment Universe, in association with Rhino Films and the National Hot Rod Association, announces the theatrical release of “Snake and Mongoo$e” in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

Starting September 6, “Snake and Mongoo$e” will be playing at the Regal Parkway Plaza 12.

This much anticipated film captures one of the greatest rivalries in auto racing history, and opens on the heels of the National Hot Rod Association’s US Nationals in Indianapolis, where special events are being held surrounding the film and featuring the cars on site.

“Snake and Mongoo$e” tells the story of the groundbreaking accomplishments of drivers Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen in the world of drag racing.  While being fierce competitors on the track, the pair were close friends who managed to revolutionize entertainment sports marketing when they attracted Mattel’s Hot Wheels Division as a sponsor.

Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as “the Snake” and Richard Blake (Dragonball:Evolution) as “the Mongoose” were honored to study their namesakes for weeks in order to bring them to life on the big screen.  The film also features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson, Ian Ziering, Fred Dryer, John Heard, Ashley Hinshaw, Leonardo Nam, Kim Shaw and Julie Mond.

The film highlights the formative, dangerous glory years of drag racing during the 1960s and 70s.  Prudhomme, a seven-time NHRA U.S. Nationals winner and four-time NHRA World Champion, and McEwen, an NHRA U.S. Nationals winner who’s also held many prestigious titles in other national events, raced each other at speeds in excess of 200 mph for over 30 years.

“These guys regularly threw caution to the wind as they strapped themselves into untested racecars powered by volatile, explosive 2,000 horsepower engines – and they did it week after week.  It took a huge amount of guts to do that,” explains Writer and Executive Producer Alan Paradise.   Their efforts lead to an extraordinarily lucrative sponsorship by Mattel’s “Hot Wheels” brand – a partnership that resulted in bringing the sport of drag racing to the mainstream, and revolutionized branding in the business of sports.

“It was a complicated film to produce, not only because we had to source and integrate archival race footage, but also because we wanted original, museum quality funny cars and dragsters from private collections to appear in the film,” continues Robin Broidy, Chair of Entertainment Universe and the film’s producer.

Vehicles included in the film are the original Greer-Black-Prudhomme dragster from car collector Bruce Meyer, the English Leather Corvette owned by Don Trasin, and the phenomenal collection of dragsters, funny cars and iconic haulers owned by Don Prudhomme himself – who oversaw their restoration to their original glory.

“Snake and Mongoo$e” opens nationwide September 6, and is rated PG-13.  The film is distributed nationally through Rocky Mountain Pictures.

The Regal Parkway Plaza 12 is located at 5910 South 180th Street, Tukwila, WA 98188.
