After last week’s knockout of Reggie Miller and with former world champion Chad Dawson entering the twilight of his boxing career and falling in this year’s list, light-heavy weight blue chip Rock Blackwell has the talent and the charisma to be a global boxing phenomenon. With an amateur record of 156-28 and turning professional in 2009, Blackwell is widely rated as one of the most promising young prospects on the professional circuit.

“Rock has all the qualities of a young star,” says Ronald Farrow a Georgia Sports Writer.

The Baltimore native’s popularity throughout Baltimore, as well as in Europe, makes him a popular draw in terms of ticket sales and internet audiences alike. With his “Philly shell” fighting style, humble personality, charisma, bravado and youthful looks, Blackwell could soon make a mark in boxing and the entertainment world.

Rock Blackwell opened up about his personal life recently and answered a few questions:

Q. What was life like growing up in Baltimore?

A. Baltimore is a rough place, there’s a lot of talent there but very little money and opportunity. If Baltimore had the backing it needed, the city would produce some the greatest athletes, artist, and entrepreneurs the world has ever seen.

Q. I read that you grew up in a broken home, how did you overcome that obstacle?

A. Yes, my father abandoned me and my mother when I was two years old. Becoming a man without your pops is by far one of the hardest things in the world to accomplish, but God was with me. Not to mention I have the world’s greatest mother.

Q. I hear you were just featured in a music video champ, walk us threw that experience?

A. It was great! A long day of shooting but I really enjoyed myself, the atmosphere was full of positive energy. Shout out to Braill, he is an amazing artist, definitely keep a look out of him.

Q.The stage is set for you to do it all, professional boxing, acting, features; How does that make you feel? knowing you are jack of trades?

A. I’m blessed, I give full credit to God. I’m going to continue to work hard and do my part so that God’s blessing can be manifested in my life.

Q. When is the next fight and what can boxing fan’s expect?

A. I’m fighting again on December 14th and it’s going to be another Blackwell blow out!

Q. Before we close, tell the fan’s how you can be found?

A. Follow me on Instagram @RockBlackwell
