The independent film “Snake & Mongoo$e,” opened in theaters nationwide September 6, and stars Jessie Williams and Richard Blake.

“Snake & Mongoo$e,” the feature film about the extraordinary rivalry and friendship of legendary drag racers, Don “the Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “the Mongoose” McEwen, the sports’ two biggest stars, is set to end its theatrical run with a two week engagement at the Century Orleans Theater at the Orleans Casino beginning, Friday, October 25.

“We wanted the film to play in conjunction with the penultimate NHRA event of the season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway which begins on Thursday, October 24,” said Robin Broidy, the film’s producer. “We also wanted it to still be in Las Vegas during the SEMA Show so that the car enthusiasts, both the exhibitors and the customers, can see it.”

The film, which stars Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) as Don “the Snake” Prudhomme and Richard Blake (Dragonball; Evolution) as Tom “the Mongoo$e” McEwen chronicles how these two highly competitive racers teamed up in the late 1960s to create a sponsorship deal with Mattel’s then new Hot Wheels Division. The partnership revolutionized sports marketing and put drag racing into the American mainstream.

The film also features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson and Fred Dryer and contains cameos from current Top Fuel Funny Car Drivers, Ron Capps and Alexis deJoria as well as from the real life Prudhomme and McEwen.

Capps, who races for Don Schumacher Racing and Napa Auto Parts as a Dodge Charger Funny Car Driver and plays famous crew chief, Lou Baney, will be attending the 7:00 p.m. showing on Saturday, October 26 at the Century Orleans 18 at the Orleans Casino.  The Century Orleans 18 is the only theater playing the film in Las Vegas.

“I love the film,” said Capps “I’m glad I get to show it to some of my family members who live in Las Vegas, including my brother, Jon, who was a technical consultant for the film.”

“It isn’t everyday that the fans get a chance to see a movie with a top NHRA driver and get to interact with him before and after the film,” Said Broidy. “The film is heartwarming and funny and we have seen the fans really enjoy themselves before, during and after the various premieres of the film around the country.  We are thrilled that we can bring Ron and perhaps a few of his friends to the 7:00 p.m. showing on Saturday night, October 26 after the conclusion of NHRA racing that day.”
