The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is pleased to announce a call for entries in the 2016 International Photography Competition. All photographers worldwide are invited to participate.

A juried panel will select winning photographs based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. The seven competition categories from which first, second, and third place winners will be chosen include People/Portraits, Places/Landscape/Drone, Nature/Science/Animals, Documentary/Social and Political Photojournalism, Still Life, Abstract Photography, and Conceptual Photography. Judges will also select an overall Best in Competition winner, and online voters will select a People’s Choice winner. All winning photographs will be shown in a group exhibition at FMoPA from June 10 – June 30, 2016. Prizes include a $1,000 cash award for Best in Competition. The registration fee is $10 per entry. Unlimited entries per person. Entries will be accepted through April 17, 2016. Please visit http://mulabula.com/splash/fmopa.html for additional details.

“We are excited to host FMoPA’s sixth annual International Photography Competition, providing a forum for photographers from diverse backgrounds to share their work with the members of our community. We always receive an interesting array of entries, and this year has already proven itself to be no exception,” says Zora Carrier, FMoPA’s Executive Director.

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is one of fewer than ten museums in the United States dedicated exclusively to photography and one of two such museums in the state of Florida. FMoPA seeks to enrich the lives of the citizens of the Tampa Bay area by providing rare, specialized access to the wonders of photography not only as an aesthetic form but also as a multi-faceted historical and contemporary document of our world through exhibitions, education, outreach programs, and local collaborations.

About FMoPA: The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is a museum dedicated to exhibiting important photographic art as central to contemporary life and culture. FMoPA collects, preserves, and exhibits historic and contemporary works by nationally and internationally known photographic artists. FMoPA also enriches the community by operating outreach programs for children and adults and by offering an extensive array of photography classes. For more information, visit www.FMoPA.org
