Booker D. Surfdog recently added Solid Gold Holistic Pet Nutrition as a sponsor.

Booker D. Surfdog and team surfdog will be at a number of Unleashed by Petco locations in the greater Dallas area this weekend.

It is hard to keep man’s best friend down, or in this case off her surfboard.

Booker D. Surfdog, if not the most explosive new canine athlete to emerge from the American scene, is proud to announce her upcoming “Man’s Best Friend Summer Surfdog Tour” that begins this week in Dallas and a new partnership with Solid Gold® Holistic Pet Nutrition.

With the support of Solid Gold, Booker will travel to Southern California to compete for the surfing trophy at the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition in San Diego, California. His tour will take him to a number of Unleashed by Petco locations in Dallas first.

The wave-carving crew, known as Team Surfdog on Facebook, includes Booker D.’s intrepid sister Onyx Shorepound Surfdog.

The crew will make their first appearance on Saturday July 25, in the Lakewood region from 11:30 a.m. through 2 p.m. followed by an appearance at the Park Lane location from 4 p.m. through 6 p.m. and will round out the trip with a final stop on Sunday at the Northview location from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m.

Booker, beside her rescued human, Adam “Pops” Steinberg the father of East coast dog surfing, has been riding the lower 48 since she was a little pup.

Steinberg says that whether Booker is plowing through the pounding seashore, trailblazing an old forest, or chasing squirrels under a zip line, one thing is sure, she’ll be hungry afterwards, waiting for her bowl of Solid Gold® Holistic Pet Nutrition.

When asked whether Booker might be concerned about facing off with the Best of the West in the Surfdog competition, Pops shrugs and keeps the summer attitude going: “Nah, we’ll just bake ’em or BBQ ’em.”

Though there will be plenty of good times and lots of smiles on the tour, Team Surfdog will be sharing their serious side as well by promoting one of the nation’s oldest dog rescues, the Humane Society of Columbia, South Carolina, founded in 1902, with the primary mission to end animal cruelty, neglect and overpopulation.

These issues hit home with Pops Steinberg:

“We deal with a lot of different animal rescues, but we focus on no kill shelters. I am really impressed with the programs the Humane Society of Columbia is working on, and I believe that one day they will be able to achieve a ‘No Kill Columbia.’ They are definitely aiding in educating the public that the euthanasia of healthy, adaptable animals is unacceptable and must be put to an end,” said Steinberg

Booker D. Surfdog will be documenting her trip on social media using #solidgoldpets and #foodforfreepsirits and include live look-ins on the Solid Gold channel on the Periscope app.
