Mike DukartWhen it comes to the natural environment of the American Midwest, very few people have been as close to it as Mike Dukart.

An entrepreneur and former U.S. Marine, Dukart has spent more than two decades making his living off his love for the outdoors, and it’s this passion for nature and his community that has driven him towards his next venture.

“These lands that outdoorsmen like myself love are the very reason that our country will remain successful in the future,” said Dukart. “America’s heartland holds the key to our energy independence.”

A key piece in the future of U.S. energy production, the Williston Basin, located throughout Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, has been heralded as one of the largest oil and natural gas reserves in the world.

Known for its Bakken Shale formation, the area features high potential shale layers located deep below the earth’s water table.

“New shale production in the Williston Basin over the past five years is one of the biggest reasons for the drop in oil and gasoline prices” says Dukart.  “Oil inventories are at record highs and even better than that, the United States is far less dependent on foreign oil”

Recognizing the potential for the area, Dukart has created the Mineral Owners Company (MOC), a non-profit organization designed to protect landowner’s interests while making energy development beneficial for all parties.

“The MOC was created to take responsibility for making energy development more efficient and in the best interests of all parties involved in the process,” says Dukart. “Our goals are to have a significant impact on the local and national economies and to promote new technologies that have a positive environmental impact while promoting clean and affordable energy.”

The founder of the hunting call company Illusion Systems, Dukart has been connected to the land since he retired from the Marine Corps. After spending decades studying nature and making millions from his inventions, he’s no stranger to hard work and due diligence.

In forming the MOC, Dukart has assembled a diverse team with an extensive background in energy production. From advisors with lengthy family histories in oil production and highly successful ranchers turned energy entrepreneurs to legal experts and national and regional political experts, Dukart feels he finally has the team he needs to allow the U.S. to no longer be an energy dependent nation.

Dukart’s interests don’t stop with the nonprofit organization. Another project of his, “Serving America,” is a documentary being produced in Hollywood designed to educate Americans on energy independence, immigration, national security and other important issues affecting the country in today’s political climate.

“It has taken years, but I feel I have assembled a team that is on board with my vision. It’s a dream come true,” says Dukart.
