Philadelphia, Pa. - With 455 stores across Canada, Canadian Tire Retail will begin selling the Twist-Lok Drill and Drive System from Lyropa Tool Corp. under Canadian Tire’s premium Mastercraft Maximum brand.

“This is truly great news,” says Patrick Anderson, co-owner of Lyropa Tool Corp., based in Eddystone, Pa.  “It exposes the Twist-Lok Drill and Drive System to millions of Canadian professional tradesman and Do-It-Yourselfers.”

Beginning 4th Quarter 2007, Canadian Tire has committed to a US$1-million product order and will spend another US$1-million on advertising to promote the Twist-Lok Drill and Drive System to Canadian consumers.

Anderson thinks it’ll be an easy sell.

“This is a true breakthrough in innovation,” says Anderson.  “With Twist-Lok there’s no need for bit changing and no more changing in and out means people can get jobs done 10 times faster.”

Though the Twist-Lok Drill and Drive System is currently available at Ace Hardware and Do it Best Corp. chains in the US, Lyropa Tool Corp. is aggressively marketing its product to larger American retailers to gain better exposure for its product in the more lucrative US market.

Lyropa has also landed major deals in Australia, New Zealand, Spain and Italy and is preparing to market its product all over the world.

In fact, on Sept. 1, Australia’s FH Prager Co. begins a $200-thousand television ad campaign for the tool being marketed under the Trojan/Twist-Lok brand.  Trojan is the house brand for the Bunnings Warehouse Stores, a chain roughly equivalent to The Home Depot in the U.S. because of its size and market dominance.  Bunnings has about 200 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand.

“The Australians are similar to Americans as consumers,” says Anderson.  “I believe the product will be a big hit and that will only strengthen our position at home in the U.S.

Anderson says the challenge is getting consumers to know about Twist-Lok—the product, he says, sells itself.

“We firmly believe that this product can end up in the toolbox of every tradesman and DIYer globally once we have the proper exposure.”
