Lutz, Fla. - Besides his family, Ty Sherrill has had two passions in life:  Golf and charity work.  And now after achieving success in both the corporate world and as an entrepreneur, Sherrill and his wife Gina are putting a new twist on using golf to raise money for charities.

Indeed, charity golf tournaments are par for the course already.  But the Sherrill's company, SiGolf.org, is the first that’s been created to focus on using the game of golf to raise money for an assortment of charities.

You could say they’ve become charity golf pros.

“Essentially, we have spent the past 24 years doing things for us,” says Ty Sherrill, “so we wanted to do something with the second half of our lives to give back by doing things for others.”

They’re hard at work planning a charity golf tournament to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa which provides specialized pediatric care at no charge to families.  It’s set for Friday, Oct. 12 at TPC Tampa Bay.

At times it seems like the Sherrill’s spend their waking hours recruiting players and corporate teams.  They know the more people who pay to play the more money they’ll raise for the Shriners Hospital which relies on donations to operate.

“Children are not asked to be born with life-threatening diseases but everyday it happens,” says Sherrill.

Last month, SiGolf.org held a tournament to raise money for the new Fisher House in Tampa.  It’s a home where family members of wounded war veterans can stay while their loved ones are being treated at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center.

“Our brave men and women in the military are certainly one of many things that is good and right about America,” says Sherrill.  “They have chosen a noble profession which knowingly puts them in harms way to defend our great nation. Our children and our veterans need our support.”

For Ty and Gina Sherrill there’s no time to rest.  Because following the Shriners Hospital for Children charity golf tournament comes another for Make A Wish.

“I’m doing what I love,” says Sherrill, “helping children and our veterans through the game of golf.”

About SiGolf.com:  The mission of Si Golf is to raise awareness and funds for non-profit organizations through the game of golf. The company teams up with some of the nation's most respected charities and corporate sponsors.
