Newport Beach, Calif. - Because it can effectively fight high blood pressure and a host of other illnesses, Americans who fail to take enough Vitamin D put their health at risk, says “America’s Wellness Doctor” Julian Whitaker, MD.

According to findings released this week from the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey published in the American Journal of Hypertension, low levels of Vitamin D are directly related to high blood pressure.

Dr. Whitaker says there’s an easy fix because sun exposure and Vitamin D supplements substantially increase levels of this important vitamin.

“Like Rodney Dangerfield, vitamin D is underrated, underappreciated, and gets no respect,” says Dr. Whitaker, a proponent of using nutritional supplements to treat serious health problems.

“I personally take a hefty dose of Vitamin D daily and suggest that everyone take at least 2,000 IU per day to help ward off high blood pressure, strengthen bones, boost immune function, and enhance overall health.”
