The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is pleased to announce the beginning of our First Fridays collaboration with The Henry B. Plant museum. Starting June 5, 2015, visitors can kick off the evening at 5 p.m. at the Henry B. Plant Museum, the nation’s only Victorian railroad resort hotel museum, where they may stroll through exhibitions including Passionate Design: The American Arts & Crafts Movement, sample tasting table treats, and take in live music on the veranda by Matt Weihmuller’s Jazz Trio.

Visitors are then encouraged to traverse the Kennedy Boulevard Bridge to the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts for the opening of the 2015 International Photography Competition exhibition and a 7 p.m. lecture by photographer Seva Granin who will speak about the making of Beijing Yoga, his visual essay documenting cultural and economic transformation in China through a striking series of photographs depicting bicycles in various states of disrepair.

Visitors can also enjoy FMoPA’s current exhibitions, Jim Reynolds: CityScapes, a Photorealism-inspired show capturing the energy, excitement, and scale of everyday life in New York City, and High Fashion: Kristian Schuller, Billy & Hells, Taka Kobayashi, an otherworldy collection of fine art images by prominent commercial photographers illustrating an array of cross-cultural, generational, and aesthetic influences and echoing themes of escapism prevalent in high fashion.

“We are thrilled to extend the museum’s hours and celebrate the festive offerings of the Henry B. Plant museum, as well as our artists and shows with the community,” says Executive Director, Zora Carrier.

Refreshments and flatbreads will be graciously provided by local favorite, Pane Rustica.

Admission: Free for members, $10 for not-yet members.
