She is a highly trained and qualified pathologist with an extensive expertise in all facets of her work. Dr. Rivers has been in practice for over two years and is currently serving as an Assistant Medical Examiner at Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office in Tampa, Florida. Furthermore, she serves as Assistant Professor of Forensic and Hospital Autopsy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Rivers graduated with her Medical Degree in 2008 from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. She then served her residencies in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and West Virginia University, followed by her Forensic Pathology fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Rivers is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Forensic Pathology.
To keep up to date with the latest advances in her field, Dr. Rivers maintains professional memberships with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the National Association of Medical Examiners, the College of American Pathologists, the American Medical Association, and the American Society for Clinical Anatomic Pathology. In 2013, she was honored with the Resident Teacher Award for 2013 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Rivers attributes her success to her passion for her field, and when she is not working, dedicates her free time to Taekwondo.
