Tampa Bay Host CommitteeThe 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee for the Republican National Convention is pleased to announce an economic development series to be hosted with Bloomberg, L.P. during the week of the Convention. The announcement was made today at the University of South Florida’s Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation Center (or CAMLS).

“We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use the platform of the Republican National Convention to market Florida as a premier place to do business,” said Host Committee President & CEO Ken Jones. “Business leaders from all over the world will descend on Tampa Bay in August, and this is our chance to showcase all of the great things about Florida’s business environment. We are thrilled to work with Bloomberg, L.P. and look forward to a series of successful events.”

“This series will put the business implications of government on full display and bring together CEOs and public sector officials to discuss what works—and what doesn’t work—when it comes to economic development here in Florida,” said Co-Chairman of Bloomberg Government and Chief Content Officer of Bloomberg L.P., Norm Pearlstine. “This series is part of Bloomberg’s larger effort to bring together the best in news gathering, data collection and analysis to report and interpret the trends and dynamics that will define the election season and determine who controls Washington.”

The CEO-based series will provide a platform to showcase Florida and Tampa Bay as a prime location for business, investment, talent and innovation.  It will take place during the week of August 27 – 30, 2012.  A series of events attended by current and former elected officials, including Florida Governor Rick Scott, will feature presentations and panel discussions, highlighting the key advantages of Florida’s business community and climate.

“Florida is leading the way in creating new jobs and turning our state’s economy around because of the number of advantages to doing business here. From its tax advantages and its low-cost of living, to its dynamic research facilities and its increasing development activity and outstanding way of life, Florida is without a doubt one of the leading states in the nation for business,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “Throughout Florida you will find many attractive communities where existing and relocating companies are receiving an impressive return on their investment and the greatest advantage for growth.”

Along with the Host Committee and Bloomberg, L.P., the series is a collaborative effort with several leading business groups, including the Florida Council of 100, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Associated Industries of Florida.
