Jane Bash introduces a new bedtime favorite to young readers with “Goodnight Dog in the Duck Pond” (ISBN 1461108551), a lighthearted story with illustrations by Nemo. Written for preschoolers through early elementary-aged children, this work educates readers on farm habitats and matching skills.

One night at bedtime, a young boy puts all of the animals on his family’s farm in the wrong places. From the fuzzy duck not in his pond to the large horse away from his stable, no one knows where they are. All of the animals are very confused as to how they are supposed to sleep in new places.

It is up to the dog on the farm to match the duck, pig, goat, rabbit, chicken, cow and horse with their correct beds. Children will follow along as the dog determines who sleeps in the stable, barn, sty, hutch, pen, coop and pond. Eventually, the dog must find his own doghouse in order to sleep that night.

“We wanted to educate young children in an entertaining and humorous way,” says Bash. “With the illustrations from Nemo and the playful, interactive storyline, we feel that ‘Goodnight Dog in the Duck Pond’ does just that.”

Both the author and illustrator have a great love for animals, and based the main character in their children’s story on a special herding dog they know. Bash hopes that young children and their parents enjoy reading “Goodnight Dog in the Duck Pond” as children are tucked into their own beds at night.

“Goodnight Dog in the Duck Pond” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
