Dr. Lawson has been in practice for over 30 years and is currently serving as Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Additionally, he works at Stony Brook Medical Center/Stony Brook Heart Institute in Stony Brook, New York.
Dr. Lawson received his Medical degree at Rutgers University in 1977. His postgraduate training includes his internship at Nassau University Medical Center, his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Stony Brook, and his cardiology fellowship at Veterans Administration Medical Center. Furthermore, Dr. Lawson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology. Dr. Lawson is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Lawson was named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly in 2015 and 2016, and he attributes his success to his wealth of experience. When he is not working, Dr. Lawson enjoys gardening.
