Tampa Bay Host Committee
With only 100 days until the 2012 Republican National Convention, the Tampa Bay Host Committee, the official Convention host committee, is working diligently to ensure that this historic event is a complete success for the entire Tampa Bay area. The world will be watching Tampa Bay this August and the Host Committee is in the midst of showcasing the region like never before; this region includes, but is not limited to, Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater.
In addition to the thousands of guests who will be coming to Tampa Bay this August, the Host Committee has the opportunity to use this presidential convention as a platform to aggrandize Tampa Bay and Florida to millions of people on a global basis. The Convention will draw 15,000 media personnel and is the largest media event in the world, second only to the Olympic Games.
“Having the Convention in Tampa Bay is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we are committed to ensuring the event is a major success and exceeds everyone’s expectations,” said Host Committee President and CEO Ken Jones. “Tampa Bay is one of the best kept secrets in America, and we will demonstrate that our region can compete and shine on a global stage as well as any major city in the world.”
The Host Committee is dedicated to showcasing the region by utilizing local volunteers through the launch of the “Faces of Tampa Bay” volunteer program. Through this program, the Host Committee will recruit and deploy more than 7,500 local volunteers to assist in the operation of the Convention.
The Host Committee is also working with its financial supporters to implement legacy projects that will continue to benefit the Tampa Bay area even after the Convention concludes. Some of these projects include aesthetics and beautification, technology infrastructure, as well as environmental and conservation programs.
Saturday, May 19, 2012 marks exactly 100 days until the kick-off of the 2012 Republican National Convention, and the Host Committee wishes to thank the Tampa Bay community for their tremendous and ongoing support. In celebration of the countdown, the Host Committee will host its 100-Day-Out Celebration in Clearwater with more than 500 guests and community leaders from across the Tampa Bay area.
