John Hannon Memorial 5kA year to the date after losing an amazing father, son, brother and friend, the Hannon family invites the Tampa Bay community to gather in memory of John Hannon (June 2, 1967 – January 18, 2011) to celebrate his life and the opportunity to make a tremendous difference in the lives of many children affected by the loss of a parent to cancer.

After receiving overwhelming community support, John’s sons, P.J. and Matt Hannon decided as of September 2011 to transfer the attention from themselves to the service of others that had walked the same path of tragically losing a parent. They have partnered with the Jason Ackerman Foundation to create a program to help fund education for youth who have lost a parent to cancer.

“We got to a point where we had plenty for us, and it just felt there were others who needed the help,” says P.J. Hannon, a senior at Florida State University, “Sadly, there are too many kids forced to experience this loss. We hope the community will continue to honor our dad by reaching out to others in his name.”
